Getty Images Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana was scheduled to propose a luxury hotel project in Santa Clara City on Tuesday night, but will not appear after a weekend car accident, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
Details of the automobile accident are scant. Montana’s lawyer confirmed that injuries sustained in the crash will “preclude him†from the appearance.
“Please forgive any inconvenience caused by this unexpected event,†attorney Robert Mezzetti wrote to the Santa Clara City Council. “I expect Mr. Montana will be able to appear in the near future.â€
The tone of Mezzetti’s statements indicates that Montana wasn’t seriously injured.
