St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office has charged a 17-year-old in connection with a carjacking and leading police on a wild car chase that resulted in a number of injuries.
According to Schron Jackson, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident happened Tuesday around 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of N. 9th and Carr streets. The suspect approached a vehicle and indicated he had a gun to the car's owner, but never displayed a weapon to the victim.
Officers spotted the stolen vehicle shortly after and pursued the car a short time. The stolen car was involved in a five vehicle accident at the intersection of Riverview and West Florissant. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene.
Police said three adults and two kids, possibly 3 and 8 years of age, were injured during the multi-car collision. There's been no word on the extent of their injuries but they are not believed to be life threatening.
Maurice Vaughn was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, two counts of armed criminal action and three counts of third-degre assault.
Vaughn was jailed on $150,000 bond.
