On trial today: one of the men charged with murder after a case of road rage went horribly wrong, prosecutors say.
The multi-car accident happened on highway 64 in Vilonia just about one year ago.
Today during opening statements prosecutors told the jury that Charles Holian was responsible for the deaths of four people in that accident.
They say he was involved in a road rage wrangle with another driver that under the law should be considered assault. That's key to his charge of felony murder.
"Felony murder means a death was caused in the commission of a felony and and in the result of that four people are dead. The state's position is that felony murder occurred," said Faulkner County Prosecutor Cody Hiland.
We spoke with Holian's attorney Frank Shaw. He says Holian's car did not make impact with the victim's vehicle and so he should not be charged with murder.
The other suspect, Russell Johnston, will have his own trial next month.
