Attorney hit by car, files break fall

ELYRIA, Ohio - A Lorain County assistant prosecutor was hit by a car on Wednesday not far from the county’s administration building.

According to the report from Elyria police, Scott Serazin was crossing the street in the 200 block of Middle Avenue when the crash happened.

The driver of the vehicle was going southbound and didn’t see Serazin in the crosswalk, the report said. Serazin was knocked onto the curb on the other side of the street.

He fell face-first, but was carrying a large stack of documents that helped to break his fall. Police said Serazin had a bloody nose, but was conscious at the scene. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated and released.

There were three witnesses to the accident, who filled out reports with police.

Serazin is running unopposed for the city’s law director position.
