ALGOMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - Kent County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a deadly one vehicle accident.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. Friday, near the intersection of Pine Island Drive and Rector Street.

Authorities say 48-year-old Randall Thomas of Solon Township  died when he hit a deer with his mini-van and veered off the road and struck a tree.

Pine Island was closed for several hours, from Rector to 13 Mile Road. It has since reopened.
