The woman killed Monday in a fiery crash at Vollmer Road and Cicero Avenue in Matteson has been identified as a Park Forest woman, Matteson police said.
Dental records confirmed the identity of Stephanie Fisher, 24, the daughter of a Park Forest village employee, authorities said.
Matteson Deputy Police Chief Ken Arvin said Fisherâs vehicle caught fire after being rear-ended by a pickup truck about 4 a.m. Monday. The driver of the truck, whose name has not been released, is still hospitalized from the crash, Arvin said.
âI do expect charges at some point, but we are working with the stateâs attorneyâs office on that,â he said.Â
Arvin said the South Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash to determine what caused it.
Park Forest village manager Tom Mick said Fisher, an active volunteer in the community, will be greatly missed.
âItâs a tremendous loss of a young life in our community,â Mick said.
Fisherâs mother, Kathy, is a building inspector for the village.Â
Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Lain-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Westwood Drive, Park Forest.
