Authorities are looking for the occupants of two vehicles that passed through the Thomas P. OâNeill Jr. Tunnel in Boston last Friday, hoping to find new witnesses to shed more light on the circumstances of a fatal crash.
The second car, which slowed down at the scene
The Suffolk district attorneyâs office today released surveillance camera pictures of the cars, hoping that someone will recognize them.
David Dang, 75, of Somerville died after being hit by a car in the southbound side of the tunnel. Authorities believe that Dang was involved in a minor accident with another car at about 8:15 a.m. Friday. He and the other driver stopped their cars and spoke in the far right lane. Dang was preparing to get back into his car when he was struck by a third vehicle.
Authorities are looking to talk to the occupants of the car involved with Dangâs in the original fender-bender. They would also like to talk with the occupants of a light-colored station wagon, possibly a Subaru, that slowed down right after the crash next to Dangâs car, Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conleyâs office said in a statement.
âDetectives are only looking for information those witnesses might have in order to ensure the most thorough investigation possible,â the statement said.
The 63-year-old Ayer man whose car struck Dang remained at the scene. He has been interviewed and has not been charged, prosecutors said.
Authorities rged anyone in the two vehicles that were in close proximity to the crash to call State Police detectives at 617-727-8817 or the State Police tunnel barracks at 617-946-3000. Anyone else who recognizes the vehicles or knows who was driving them is also urged to call.
