GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Matthew Kostanski of Greenfield will be charged with negligent motor vehicle homicide, for allegedly causing a two-car accident that killed 18 year-old Emily Watson of North Hatfield.
Kostanskiâs car collided with Watsonâs on Route 116 in Sunderland the evening of September 11. Watson was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital following the crash, but she died. Kostanski suffered only minor injuries.
First Assistant Northwestern District Attorney Steven Gagne told 22News investigators believe Kostanski, who was driving south, drifted into the northbound lane, striking Watsonâs car. Gagne says that they do not believe at this time that Kostanski had been drinking or using drugs prior to the crash.
State Police took witness statements and examined physical evidence during the investigation, which continues.
Kostanski will be arraigned at Greenfield District Court, though a court date has yet to be determined.
